On June 8th, 2019, The Croatian Parish Park in Mississauga hosted Toronto’s first of a kind Middle Eastern Festival!
This festival was organized by YES2IRAQ, Iraqi home and CNIEA, along with partners such as Syrian Canadian Arts Council, Yemeni Canadian Club, SPAN, Waterloo Times and the Jordanian Canadian Society.
Between 12-8 PM, over 2853 men, women and children were in attendance to enjoy a fun and entertaining program which included a live music performance by Top Middle East Deejay Ziad and DJD, a Dabke dance performance by Dabke Inc., a traditional dance performance by the Yemeni Canadian Club, a performance by a live singer, a magic show, face painting and bouncy castle activities for children, 60+ vendors display of traditional clothing, jewellery and accessories, delicious food by Shahrayar.
Covered by multiple news channels, the festival also hosted the Minister of Immigration and Citizenship Ahmed Hussain and Mississauga Member of Parliament Iqra Khalid.
The program ended with a prize winner of a 60” TV and closing remarks by the organizers.
